Skilling up crafters is harder you can't get up to 100 skill from tanning. You'll have to rely on riskier ways like bounties and looting, and spend your money carefully instead of immediately buying the best gear for everyone. In short, it nerfs the easiest ways of making money, like mining, smuggling, and selling shoddy stolen gear from bandits. After 150 hours of Kenshi installing it brought me right back to the feeling of my first hour: having no idea how I was going to survive. I highly recommend the Enhanced Survival Challenge mod. Still, I miss going to the cities.Ĭan anyone advise anything? Living in the black desert as a greenlander? Living in a holy land as a skeleton? Playing as a bonedog puppy? Killing Long-cat on the 30-th in-game day? No cities means no safe haven early game, no trading means no easy food, no sure way to get good weapons and armor (don't even know what I am going to be able to craft without ever buying a blueprint), some Mk II nodachi I wouldn't normally even think of using is a gift from gods now. So far, the best idea I've come up with is "avoiding all civilization": not going to big non-hostile cities, no trading, no stealing (except from mechanical spiders guarding abandoned outposts). With a little bit of cheating, however (importing the game with "reset squad position", so you re-spawn somewhere near the Hub), my amputee survived rather easily and god top quality metal limbs and life was good. I've tried some "super-impossible start" mod, where you have no arms and no legs and are spawned in the middle of a cannibal's village, but that was indeed impossible (they pick you up immediately and put you in a cage which you can't escape without your arms). And you can't speed up time, because that increases your chance of permadying. I've tried solo permadeath on normal difficulty, that was better, but kinda too limiting in terms of base building and stuff.
KENSHI GAMEPLAY SETTINGS FULL
I've tried setting the "difficulty" to maximum (max damage, max enemies, etc.) - but that just makes everything rather random (whoever lands the first hit wins), grindy (need to grind more toughness on safer targets) or outright impossible (would I ever be able to storm a city, with all its harpoon towers, if a dust bandit still one shots my 60 level character in full mastercrafted heavy armor and chainmail?) By "difficult" I don't mean "more grindy", or "more random", or "outright impossible", but rather something that forces you to think, make choices, compromises, that kind of stuff. that would make the game difficult again for a somewhat experienced player with moderately good knowledge of the game (such as myself). I am looking for a set of mods, self-imposed limitations, challenges, etc. We expect our users to be familiar with and adhere Reddit's official Content Policy and the Reddiquette.
